Malware -Spyware- Passes information on to a criminal without the user's knowledge. It is often packaged with free software. -Virus- A program hidden in another program or file, designed to cause damage to file systems -Trojans- Installed by a user thinking it is a legitimate piece of software when it will actually cause damage or provide access to criminals. -Worms- A malicious program that acts independently and can replicate itself and spread throughout a system. -Phishing- Uses email, text messages and phone calls to impersonate (for example) a financial organisation to harvest information and abuse it against the user to allow criminal access. -Pharming- The redirecting of a user's website- by modifying their Domain Name System (DNS) entries- to a fraudulent site site without their permission. -Ransomware Attacks a computer system, requiring the user to pay a ransom to unlock it. -Brute force A brute force attack repeatedly tries different usernames and passwords ...
